Karen ice skated competitively as a young girl. In 1988 she was on the committee that brought the National Figure Skating Championships to Baltimore. Her volunteer position was to produce the souvenir program. She interviewed more than 200 skaters, wrote their bios, sold advertising and helped get printing bids. Karen was hooked, not to mention that her skating background was about to pay off!

Starting at age 12 she helped on weekends and holidays in her mother’s local florist business working her way up to Bridal Consultant and Advertising & Marketing Director. She placed an ad in WeddingPages Magazine to promote the wedding aspect of the florist business. Learning the magazine was for sale she borrowed $20,000 to purchase the Maryland and Pennsylvania franchises. Six months later, with no option to fail, the loan was repaid in full. Several years later she sold the franchises and became a Regional Sales Director for The Knot, which had purchased the publication.

2001 Karen and her husband Jay, purchased franchises for Perfect Wedding Guide in 6 cities; Baltimore, Central Pennsylvania, Delaware, Richmond, Philadelphia and South Jersey. Within 2 years she was awarded Franchise Of The Year from among franchises in 42 cities nationwide.

2004 Karen and her husband started Modern Babies & Children Magazine and in January 2006 was approved by the Federal Government to start Franchising. Franchises were sold in 8 cities. December 2012 they sold the entire franchise system to their Nashville Franchisee.

In June 2011, Karen decided not to renew her option with Perfect Wedding Guide, joining her husband in creating their own Wedding Magazine & Marketing System. 2010 Karen’s husband Jay launched Wedding411 On Demand as a Comcast TV segment. In June 2011 Karen joined him and started Wedding411 The Magazine, Wedding411ondemand.com, Wedding411 Newsletter for engaged couples, Blogs & Podcasts; all in an effort to bring the latest trends, tips and information to Maryland’s savvy engaged couples.

With her plate full, building the Wedding411 brand, she makes time to ride her horse - Lake, play the piano, read and garden.

She is a graduate of Villa Julie College (Stevenson University)
