After graduation from Frostburg State University Jay pursued Sales Management Marketing and added Corporate Training to his resume with Fortune 500 companies; Carnation/Nestle and EJ Gallo Winery.
In 1997, Jay joined Weddingpages Magazine as a Sales Director overseeing seven regional publications around the United States. He was promoted to Senior Sales Director prior to the company being purchased by The Knot. In 1998 Jay became the National Sales Director for The Knot overseeing the sales staff in 42 cities.
In June 2001 Jay and his wife Karen purchased 6 Franchises for Perfect Wedding Guide: Baltimore, Central Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, South Jersey, Delaware and Richmond. In 2002 the Franchisor asked Jay to become his Vice President of Sales & Marketing which Jay did until 2004.
In 2004 Jay and Karen started Modern Babies Children Magazine and in January 2006 were approved by the Federal Government to start Franchising. Franchises were sold in 8 cities. December 2012 they sold the entire franchise system to their Nashville Franchisee.
In April 2010 Jay started Wedding411 On Demand as a Comcast TV segment followed by Wedding411ondemand.com. In June 2011 Karen joined him and started Wedding411 The Magazine, Wedding411 The Newsletter for engaged couples, Blog & Podcasts, Networking Events and Social Media; all in an effort to bring the latest trends, tips and information to Maryland’s savvy engaged couples.
Cool things to know about Jay…
- Jay loves to host parties. He is the one that shops for the groceries, cooks the meal, and of course drinks wine while doing so! Among his favorite guests? His FOUR lovely daughters, Stephanie, Allison, Lindsay and Jessie and his son-in-laws.
- Jay has a green thumb and enjoys gardening and spending as much time as possible in the great outdoors.
- Jay was a three-sport athlete in high school, playing on the football, basketball and baseball teams, and a two-sport athlete in college, playing football and lacrosse.
- What motivates Jay? He knows it’s important to make his work FUN, and feels blessed and thankful that he has had the opportunity to build a career that makes him wake up and smile each day.
