Her studio in New Freedom, PA., just across the Maryland line, is where Cheryl takes live edge wood, sands it down, shapes it up, and engraves it with a laser. The final product is a keepsake board to commemorate a big event in a couple’s journey together.    

Adding a sentimental touch to each item

The focal point of each board is a compass engraved into the wood along with the coordinates of a special location for the couple – the place they met, wedding location, or their first home. On the bottom of the board is the couple’s name and wedding date alongside a QR code; which plays the couple’s first dance song when scanned with a smartphone.

Making a gift that is both functional and beautiful

The idea for the Couple Keepsake Boards came to Cheryl when she started thinking about creating a wedding and anniversary line. She wanted to make a memento for couples that could be appreciated not only visually but also felt good to the touch and integrated technology to be able to play their first dance song.  

The boards can be used for charcuterie, but Cheryl says most couples use them as wall art. They make a wonderful wedding or anniversary gift.

The wood is locally sourced from the Maryland area through TDeez Badass Creations. “I started working with TDeez when I lost my job during the start of COVID last year. I always liked working with my hands and making unique crafts,” says Cheryl. 

Always innovating, Cheryl is working on incorporating other elements from couples’ special days into the boards for a piece of art that will last a lifetime.
