Guest Post: Unique Wedding Reception Locations That You Haven’t Thought Of

Set Up Camp

You and your partner are pretty outdoorsy. Hiking, fishing, and camping are some of your favorite hobbies. Why not have a reception to reflect those favorite activities? Hosting a woodland retreat for a wedding reception is unique and allows you to party the night away under the stars with your guests.

Camps, parks, or even your own back yard if it’s big enough could serve as your reception location. Have each guest bring a tent or go through a tent rental company to provide sleeping arrangements for your guests right on site! A plus side to having it in your own backyard or a relative’s estate or farm is you can have whatever caterer you want and provide your own alcohol. You’ll be doing the happy dance all night thinking about all of the money you saved!

Keep It Green

Create a stunning reception location just by hosting your reception at a garden or greenhouse. Many venues or state and national garden centers have a garden space or greenhouse area where you can celebrate your “I Dos.” With a few simple decorations and the surrounding flowers, you’ll have a stunning reception space in no time. Rustic stone and glass creates a beautiful backdrop for photographs, and the natural lighting will fill the room, creating that dreamy glow for pictures.

Cruising into The Future

For that air of luxury and romance, sail away on a cruise getaway for your reception. Cruise ships come in a variety of sizes and with different amenities, which means you can control your budget. You can rent your own private ship or invest in a private room on a public ship depending on how much you’d like to spend.

Cruise ships have something for anyone’s fancy, including dancing, gambling, delicious food, and much more. Your photographs will be stunning with the ocean in the backdrop and a beautiful sunset as you dance the night away with your sweetheart.

Night at the Museum

For those who can’t get their fill of knowledge, hosting your reception in a museum or library is an ideal way to reflect your personality as a couple. Many cities have museums that will rent out to a space for private parties in the evenings on weekends. Whether you enjoy natural history or contemporary art, there’s a museum for you! A definite plus side to having a reception in a museum or library is you won’t have to worry about rain.

Under the Sea

You’ve found your fish in this great big sea, so why not celebrate with the fish that are still single? Hosting an aquarium reception is one way to create an event your guests would truly never forget – and they definitely won’t be bored! Having a backdrop of turtles, sharks, and even penguins will make for an interesting cocktail hour and will provide you with photo opportunities galore. Getting that tiger shark to smile for the camera might be a challenge, though.

Down-to-Earth Love

If you ever wanted to really get down to your roots, an earthen wedding might be for you. Caves and cavern venues make for an unusual but stunning reception space! Many states have at least a few underground venues, and the chances of your guests having attended one in the past is pretty slim. Posing next to stalactites and stalagmites for photographs and celebrating your marriage during the reception will be unforgettable in this setting.

When trying to brainstorm reception options for your wedding, list out what your hobbies are. Chances are you and your partner will find something you have in common that you can turn into a unique wedding reception location!
