After enjoying the beginning of your engagement, it’s time to make some crucial decisions- starting with your wedding date. Every season of the year has its pros and cons, which we’ve touched on below to help you narrow down your desired wedding season and wedding date.
Spring
Pro: A spring wedding date is perfect for those who love the beauty of nature. Flowers of all kinds start to bloom, and the greenery of trees and grass reemerges. Nature becomes the perfect romantic backdrop for your ceremony or wedding photos.
Con: We’ve all heard the saying “April showers bring May flowers,” as spring is known for being a particularly rainy season. If you are planning an outdoor celebration, just be sure to have a backup plan like a tent or indoor space to utilize in case of rain.
Summer
Pro: If you have your heart set on a late-afternoon or night wedding, a summer wedding date is the best option. Daylight can last to 8 or 9 PM, which gives you ample time to have a later or longer ceremony without rushing to get your photographs done before sunset.
Con: Heat and humidity are the biggest disadvantages of the summer months. Many people worry it will affect their hair and makeup look.
Fall
Pro: Fall temperatures are often ideal for spending time outside. Also, if you desire a darker wedding color scheme full of deep reds, purples and even orange- this is the season for you.
Con: September and October wedding dates tend to book fast for wedding venues and vendors. You want to start inquiring early if you want to get married during this time of the year.
Winter
Pro: There is something cozy about an indoor winter wedding with candles, fireplaces and dimmed lighting to create the perfect romantic setting. Many venues will decorate for the holidays, so you won’t have to worry about bringing in a lot of your own décor.
Con: In today’s world everyone’s calendar books up fast especially around the holiday season. It’s best to get your save-the-dates and invitations out early during this time of the year (well really any time of the year!)
