Summer is one of those seasons that has a lot going for it: sunny days, beach trips, laid-back vibes, and…weddings!
As Cancun wedding photographers, we have the privilege of enjoying evergreen summers and couples saying their I do’s on balmy beaches under blue skies and palm trees. We’ve seen plenty of creative weddings over the years and have noticed certain trends, which we’d love to share with you today.
If you’re thinking about a summer wedding by the sand and sea, keep reading for some of our favorite summer beach wedding trends.
Monochrome White
Let the beauty of the area be the star by creating an all-white wedding. It’s luxurious, sophisticated, bright, classic, and draws attention to the natural scenery.
Summer Beach Essentials
Treat your guests to summertime essentials by setting up a table with things they might need during the actual wedding.
We listed a number of weather-related convenience items in our summer wedding ideas post, such as bottles of water, bug spray, sunblock, sunglasses, aloe vera, hand fans, and lip balm. You might even want to put together welcome bags filled with these essentials for out-of-town guests.
Umbrella Drinks
Everyone knows that beach + summer = umbrella drinks. But you don’t need sand to sip on this savory treat.
Give this summer classic a twist for your wedding with options like iced tea, slushies, mocktails, lemonade, wine smoothies, and signature cocktails with interesting flavors. Think mint-ginger tea, strawberry-basil lemonade, and elderflower mojitos.
Deep Dive
Forget trashing the dress with mud or paint. Taking a dip into the deep blue is the new way to have fun in your wedding dress.
After your beach wedding, go with your photographer to an area that will allow you to take a few underwater shots. Here in the Riviera Maya region, we like to visit natural cenotes of freshwater.
The results are dreamy, to say the least. If you’re not on the beach, no problem. Head to a swimming pool or other body of water that’s clear enough to get photos in.
Ocean-Inspired
There’s no better time to adorn yourself with ocean-inspired jewelry than at your summer beach wedding.
Pearls, seashell charms, and jewels made of seaglass are as beautiful as they are elegant.
And, even if you don’t wear something from the sea, you can use it as a prop to photograph your rings or decorate your wedding spaces.
Simple Centerpieces
Simple doesn’t mean boring. We’ve seen plenty of couples incorporate natural elements into their table centerpieces, creating an understated elegance that stands the test of time.
You can do the same by placing things like vases of seaglass, coral, seashells, flowers, and candles on your reception tables.
Exit Here
Exits are the new entrances, and couples are saying adios in style by giving their guests things like sparklers, bubbles, petals, and confetti to use while the couple makes their way to the getaway car.
Find Your Summer Beach Inspiration
As you can see, there are so many fun and creative ways to have a summer beach wedding. From walking a sandy aisle to making a sparkling exit, your summer beach wedding will be everything you’ve dreamed of when you incorporate these trends. And your guests will have a great time to boot!
