Joy is amazing in everything she does, she has been altering my bridesmaid's dresses since 2014 so when it came time for MY wedding dress there was no question. This is because she is not only good at what she does but she is upfront about everything, she is super organized during your appointment and has wonderful advice, its always like chatting with a friend. Her bridal appointments are thorough so you know exactly what to expect for the dress, she did amazing with the beadwork so the dress fit my body shape and crated a beautiful Bustle. She never rushes you, she will work with on every detail and she makes you feel beautiful in your garment! I recommend her to everyone!

Being a bride through the coronavirus has been less than ideal. The struggles of postponing our wedding has been immensely stressful however, I was lucky enough to have Joy as one of my wedding vendors. Seeing the before and after photos of my dress really shows the level of skill Joy has as my dress was extremely large to start. She’s hilarious, she’s extremely compassionate and she has truly been a wonderful support in the rescheduling the wedding and making the best game plan for the dress in our now November wedding. Her website for scheduling is extremely user-friendly, her studio is clean and tidy and from my first appointment, I always felt comfortable due to her warm, friendly character. My daughter used The Joy of Sewing for alterations to her wedding gown. We could not have had a better experience. Joy is extremely professional and is an exceptionally talented seamstress. Besides some alterations for fit, my daughter wanted cap sleeves constructed on her gown. Joy was fantastic at giving my daughter options for the sleeves. She is not only an outstanding seamstress but has a keen sense of design. The quality of her work is exceptional. Joy was flexible and accommodated all our needs. Besides my daughter’s gown, I had Joy do the alterations on my dress, and she did the alterations on the gown of the maid of honor. The work on all the dresses was flawless. Joy was absolutely amazing to work with and made my dress look so gorgeous for my Wedding Day! When I ordered it, I ordered a size up and then I proceeded to lose weight and needed the dress taken in 3 sizes. Joy told me not to worry, she would make it fit like a charm again... and she did! One of the first things I did when beginning my dress search was find a seamstress. I’m so glad I found Joy! I knew I had a budget I wanted to stick with which meant I my need to order my gown from an online retailer. The website was chocked full of great information that I think every bride should know before going dress shopping. I took a chance and sent an email asking a few questions before even scheduling an appointment. Joy was super responsive and provided so many helpful pieces of information. Out of all the vendors I’ve worked with for my wedding, The Joy of Sewing and Embroidery has by far been the best one. Detailed, honest, information about what you can or cannot do with your gown, how long it will take, and what it will cost. You will not regret entrusting your most precious garment with her, just make sure to schedule early! She books up quick for good reason.
